2018 Lincoln Navigator • Real Incident

This is what happens when a 2018 Lincoln Navigator traveling at 80 miles per hour on the desert highway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas suddenly has a transmission failure. The transmission suddenly slips out of gear (sounds like neutral) and then back into gear 1, locking up the tires.

Listen for the warning tone. Watch the blue smoke from the tires (four wheel drive) as they lock up.

This was a seasoned driver. A lesser driver could have lost control and flipped the car. Watch the car swerve as the driver almost loses control

The dealer/manufacturer replaced the transmission (thank you very much) but the engine is still throwing off codes and often goes into "limp mode" where it has little power and has to be shut down and re-started.

This website exists solely so the dealership and Lincoln can understand what happened to this vehicle and can hopefully fix it! (Possibly a timing chain issue?)
